"Paris Hilton loses cellphones on plane to Manila". I saw this on Yahoo.com today. Naturally I thought to myself "who cares about whether she lost her cellphones!?" This is B.S. C'mon people. What is internet journalism coming to?
Now, I realize it has been like this for a quite a long time. Yahoo! only posts stuff on their front page so that they will get more hits. There's a separate section for actual news. The front page of the internet is completely different than that of say, the New York Times. Most of it links to badly written articles anyways, for instance, one headline I read blared "Californian cities in danger of flooding!" ...and then it linked to an article about the flooding along the Mississippi River, and only contained the word "California" once, and that was in a sentence that basically stated "Much of California isn't in any harms way because of the many mountain ranges."(something to that effect) Well, gee thanks, Yahoo! I would have never figured that out on my own! Thank you.
